Huayna Potosi (6088m)
Posted in Bolivia, Vincent, Voyage on 18 mars 2010 11:49 by t*i*ddJe suis passe par l’agence Travel Tracks pour tenter en 2 jours l’ascension de l’Huayna Potosi et ses 6088m…
I booked with Travel Tracks a 2 days trek to try to climb the Huayna Potosi (6088m high)…
arrivee au camp haut (5100m) / at the high camp (5100m)
un des messages muraux / one of the wall quotes
4.30am – 57XXm, i quit, 190 beats per minute my heart makes me stop, despite good legs and no altitude sickness I must go back down…
au moins j’aurais fait un bonhomme de neige / at least I would have made a snowman
redescente vers le camps bas / going back down to the base camp
cimetiere d’un ancien village minier (fermé il y a 25 ans) / cemetery of an old mining town (closed 25 years ago)
lacs miniers / mines lakes
OK, I didn’t make it to the top, I didn’t passed the 6000m, I didn’t see the sunrise… But I tried, I know my limits (now), I had fun (first experience of snow trekking), and this is the highest I’ve ever been… Maybe i’ll try it again one day…

Happy to see you’re having happy days Vincent! I hope the blues festival was all you wanted and more though I’m sure you all had a blast. We arrived in the south west of Western Australia on Xmas Day, spent time with our loved ones and then had a few weeks down south at beaches, forests and rivers (It’s a hard life). Our travel funds running low we are now staying with family in Moora, I am working in a hotel and orchard, Johno is truck driving. We plan to keep adventuring whereever the road takes us by summer. Winter is starting and it is quite cold, been a couple of years since we’ve been cold, but here I am going on about cold and you’ve been in snow:)
Your photos and stories are an awesome read, it is the first time I have looked at this site as I only just came across your « happiness card ». Keep up the harmonica practise so you can belt out some tunes the next time our paths cross.
Wishing you all the best, love and happiness, joala & johno, chilli & tiffany xoxo
